"My East Village" by Terry Galmitz

With 63 years of his life in East Village, Terry Galmitz, the finest local artist, will present his own places in the neighborhood through his cartoon illustrations at SB D Gallery on October 2, 2010. The project was motivated by Seolbin Park, founder and curator at SB D Gallery, during their interview for possible solo exhibition. For 2 months, Terry revisited over 50 places where meant something to him and the illustrations are put to share with art lovers, especially, East Village advocates.

The illustrations include; Mars Bar, St. Mark’s Church, A. Provenzano Funeral Home, La Mama Theater, Little Velselka,  Julius Klien, St. Mark’s Theater, Hell’s Angels House, Bowery Poetry Club, Yonah Schimmel Knishery, Tompkins Sq. Park, East Village Tavern, Life Cafe, Odessa Cafe, Gringer Appliance, Lucky Chengs, Russ & Daughters, Bar 507, Theater for the New City, Village Voice, Astor Place, Veniero’s Bakery, Lanzas, Horseshoe Bar, Fire House, J. Baczynsky East Village Meat Market, McSorley’s Old Ale House, Gem Spa St. Mark’s Place, Mitali East, 9th Precinct NYPD, SB D Gallery, Joe’s Locksmith, Avalon Chemistry,Greenthumb Public Garden, Cloister, Katz’s Deli, Sergio’s Deli, Stage Set, Cafe 81, Orpheum Theater, Billy’s Antiques, Velselka, CBGB, Filmore, East Ghost, Toy Toyko, Atlas Cafe, Mission Cafe, Lasio Studios, Barbara Shaum, Cucina Di Pesce… The exhibition will run from October 2, 2010 till December 29, 2010 Opening reception: October 2, Saturday, from 5-8pm , wine and finger foods will be served.

The print is printed on Epson Velvet Fine Art paper with MicroPiezo TFP print head with the extraordinary performance of UltraChrome® HDR inks for an extremely wide color garmut.
